How the Checker Works
The checker asks six questions: how many employees your business has, whether you are an Enterprise Ireland client, what sector you operate in, whether you have completed an Enterprise Ireland Cyber Security Review, whether you are interested in subsidised cybersecurity training, and whether your business develops its own cybersecurity tools or solutions. Your answers determine which programmes you may be eligible for, the total potential funding, and the recommended next step for each.
Grants & Funding Programmes Covered
Enterprise Ireland Cyber Security Review Grant — €2,400, 80% funded (you pay €600)
An independent cybersecurity review by a certified expert covering 14 areas of your security posture. This is the entry point to Ireland's cybersecurity funding ecosystem and a prerequisite for the larger NCC-IE grant. Available to Enterprise Ireland client companies.
NCC-IE Cyber Security Improvement Grant — up to €60,000, 80% funded (you pay 20%)
The largest dedicated cybersecurity grant available to Irish SMEs. Covers implementation of the priority recommendations from your Cyber Security Review. Co-funded by the EU Digital Europe Programme. Completing the Cyber Security Review first unlocks this grant.
LEO Grow Digital Voucher — up to €5,000, 50% funded
Covers cybersecurity software, training, and IT configuration. Available through your Local Enterprise Office to businesses with 1–49 employees that are not Enterprise Ireland or IDA clients. Requires completing a Digital for Business Project first.
Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher — €10,000–€20,000, 100% funded (standard) or 50% co-funded
Work with a third-level researcher to develop innovative cybersecurity solutions — bespoke incident response frameworks, zero trust architecture research, or academic-grade risk analysis. Open to SMEs with fewer than 250 employees registered as a limited company in Ireland. Available all year round.
European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Free Assessment — free, 100% funded
Free cybersecurity assessments, digital maturity assessments, and mentoring from Ireland's network of EDIHs. No cost, no obligation — available to any Irish SME regardless of sector or agency relationships. A good starting point if you have not had any formal security assessment.
Skillnet Ireland / ICT Skillnet Subsidised Training — up to 70% off course fees
Part-funded cybersecurity courses from short professional development to a full MSc in Cybersecurity (subsidised to around €3,150). Covers cybersecurity leadership, penetration testing, GRC, and security operations. Available to employees of member companies — membership is straightforward and often free for SMEs.
Revenue R&D Tax Credit (Section 766) — 30% of qualifying R&D spend
If you are developing new cybersecurity tools, processes, or solutions — not just implementing existing ones — you can claim a 30% tax credit. The first €50,000 is payable as a cash refund even if your company has no tax liability. Discuss with your accountant whether your work qualifies.
